Belle caps off her breakthrough season with her first World Cup win
The final event in the Snowboard Cross northern hemisphere season took place at Baqueira Beret, Spain over the weekend. It proved to be a landmark event for Belle who claimed her first ever World cup victory, after twice finishing second in events earlier in the season.
Under fine conditions, and partly sunny skies Belle led the way, completing the heats, and the final, without being headed at any stage. After winning the final she sank to the snow and paused momentarily to reflect on the achievement. “It was something I’ve been aiming for, and finally put it together at the very last race” she said. “It was a very special and happy moment for me.”
In what surely must be a first for Australia, Alex “Chumpy” Pullin won the Men’s event as well, again leading both heats and the final at every stage.
Standings at the end of the season for the Men sees Alex in 5th place and OMP’s Belle in 3rd.
Huge congratulations Belle. Time for a short break back in Australia, then onto Korea and the Olympics.
